IBM i (iSeries) DRaaS
IBM i Cold Start Program
This program guarantees hardware in the event of a disaster. Racksquared, in the event of a disaster would immediately restore your system to a new LPAR on one of our servers.
This program includes an annual D/R test which includes:
- 72 hour use of system.
- Access to tape drive.
- 10 hours of services for setup support.
- Requires two week notice.
Recovery time on this program will be between 12 to 36 hours depending on the size of the restore. Program license keys are the responsibility of the customer to obtain.
Pricing based on monthly subscription fee for hardware guarantee. A declared disaster fee and rental for disaster days are charged separately and are based on size of hardware.
IBM i Warm Start Program
This program offers a pre-built server solution that reduces the time to restore your application environment. A server is built on the latest complete option 21 or full save. In the event of a disaster only incremental or save change objects saves would need to be restored.
This program also includes an annual D/R test which includes:
- 72 hour use of system.
- Access to tape drive.
- 10 hours of services for setup support.
- Requires two week notice.
Recovery time on this program is estimated to be between 6 to 18 hours depending on the size of the restore. Program license keys are the responsibility of the customer to obtain.
Pricing based on monthly server rental and restoration time. A declared disaster fee and rental for disaster days are charged separately and are based on size of hardware.
IBM i Warm Start Program with Cybernetics VTL Replication
This program offers a pre-built server solution that reduces the time to restore your application environment. A server is built on the latest complete option 21 or full save. In the event of a disaster only incremental or save change objects saves would need to be restored. This program would require the customer to do backups on a Cybernetics VTL and virtual tapes replicated to Racksquared.
This program also includes an annual D/R test which includes:
- 72 hour use of system.
- Access to tape drive.
- 10 hours of services for setup support.
- Requires two week notice.
Recovery time on this program is estimated to be between 3 to 12 hours depending on the size of the restore. Restoration from disk based backups is faster than traditional tape restores. Program license keys are the responsibility of the customer to obtain.

IBM i High Availability Program
This program offers a second server that is replicating the production environment instantaneously at all times to a second dedicated i-Series LPAR (HA environment). Should the production environment ever go down, software placed on both the production and the HA environment server would allow production activity to move to the HA environment, thus, limiting down time of your production environment. The move to the HA server would require your operations team to enter appropriate license keys for your application software to run in the new HA environment.
This IBM i High Availability Program provides the following:
- Provides a second IBM i equipment with dedicated LPAR.
- Licensing and maintenance fees for HA software on Source (production) device.
- Licensing and maintenance fees for HA software on Target (HA environment) device.
- All system maintenance and management of the Target HA environment.
- Includes D.R. testing of the environment annually to ensure processes.
- NOTE: Assumes a 36-month Agreement. Other pricing options are available at lesser commitments but would involve customer purchasing and owning HA replication software from Racksquared rather than having the software “rented” as a service.
IBM i Emergency Recovery
This program offers an ad hoc access to our data center on a first-come, first-served basis. Should your company find itself in a disaster situation and in need of on-demand access to a disaster recovery facility Racksquared may be able to provide you with resources should they be available.
Ad Hoc Disaster Recovery Plan provides the following:
- Access to LPAR built to specifications.
- Access to Tape Drive for restore.
- Access to Racksquared Staff during restore.
- No long term contract required.
- IBM i Management is available after restore.
Rates for this service will be at "Disaster Recovery" rates for both labor and hardware.
Disaster Recovery Test Program
This program allows a company to test their i-Series disaster recovery processes and procedures to ensure that, in the event of a disaster, your IT organization knows that you can recover your applications and data successfully.
Disaster Recovery Test Program consists of the following:
- 72-hour use of data center environment for testing.
- Access to Tape Drive for restore.
- 10-hours of services including set-up support. Additional hours at standard rates are available if needed.
- Minimum of two week notice of any test.
- Use of hoteling space.
The Disaster Recovery Test Program can be completed by Racksquared Staff if needed to test your disaster recovery plan. Documented results will be provided at the end of the test noting restore times and defining any failures that occurred during the restore.
